London

Sifton is building Ontario’s most sustainable and energy-efficient community in London, Ontario. When Smith + Andersen London reached out to us regarding their kitchen exhaust system at the new Riverstone retiree apartments, we knew exactly what energy-efficient solution to propose.

Challenges

Sifton’s ambitious project to build Ontario’s most sustainable and energy-efficient community in London required innovative solutions to maintain high standards of sustainability. For the new Riverstone retiree apartments, this meant finding a kitchen exhaust system that was both effective and energy-efficient.

The Solution

We proposed and equipped the kitchen with two Spring Air Dynaflow MJ hoods, which feature dual-zone air delivery to reduce supply and exhaust air requirements. To further enhance energy efficiency, we integrated the TruFlow demand ventilation control panel, which adjusts the hood fans and MUA up or down based on demand, ensuring optimal energy savings.

Our Approach

By implementing the Spring Air Dynaflow MJ hoods and the TruFlow demand ventilation control panel, we provided a solution that meets the high standards of energy efficiency and sustainability required by the Riverstone retiree apartments. This system effectively reduces energy consumption by adjusting to the kitchen’s real-time needs, showcasing our commitment to innovative and efficient solutions.

Conclusion

Our collaboration with Smith + Andersen London for the Riverstone retiree apartments highlights our dedication to providing state-of-the-art, energy-efficient solutions. This project demonstrates how our expertise can contribute to building sustainable communities. Contact us to find out how we can help make your projects more energy-efficient and sustainable.

Results

  • Hood is equipped with Demand Ventialtion which modulates the exhaust fan according to equipment use under hood. Significant operational savings can be realized here as exhaust fan does not have to be high speed all the time during operation hours.
  • The Hood is a high-efficiency hood equipped with a custom air curtain that reduces exhaust air requirements, thus saving on Exhaust fans and MUA capital costs as smaller units will be required.
  • Chef comfort is key – this hood has air jets that are directed to chefs or hood operator to keep them cool.
