The City of London needed to replace a 20+ year-old Dectron unit at the South London Community Pool. Faced with space limitations and budget constraints, we collaborated with Dillon Consulting to find a cost-effective and feasible solution, ensuring the project was completed within budget and on time.
Challenges
Our primary challenge was upgrading the dehumidification unit within the constrained space of the mechanical room, which would require significant roof work and lead to project costs skyrocketing. The existing unit’s location and the logistics of installing a new one posed substantial difficulties.
The Solution
As leaders in Pool Dehumidification solutions, the City of London asked us to find an alternate approach. We decided to assess the old Dectron unit with the help of Dectron. Discovering that the unit body was still in good shape and could be reused, we proposed replacing all the internal components instead of installing a completely new unit.
Our Approach
After reviewing the significant savings this option would bring, the City of London opted for this innovative approach. The job went out to tender, and Arcon Electric was awarded the contract. Given a tight one-month timeframe, we monitored the entire process daily, coordinating between different parties to ensure timely delivery of products. We provided a detailed list of refrigerant components to TSSA for pre-approval, saving additional time and avoiding potential issues during installation.
