Here at O’Dell HVAC Group, we recently completed a design-build project for a group of net zero warehouses in Cambridge, ON. This project required a highly efficient and innovative solution to provide heating via VRF technology while addressing the challenges of heating outdoor air in a cold climate.
Challenges
The project presented several challenges. The buildings’ net zero design meant that traditional gas-fired heating methods were unsuitable, necessitating a sustainable and efficient alternative. Additionally, effectively heating outdoor air using VRF technology in our cold climate was critical, requiring a solution that could perform reliably even at low ambient temperatures.
The Solution
To meet these challenges, we utilized a combination of Nagas ABE regenerative core units and LG VRF technology:
Nagas ABE Regenerative Core Units: These units were selected to satisfy the building’s ventilation requirements due to their high effectiveness. The ABE core significantly raises the outdoor air temperature through its regenerative core to meet the VRF inlet air requirements. Importantly, the ABE core does not require a defrost cycle, ensuring consistent operation throughout the winter.
LG VRF Technology: LG VRF units were used to provide the post-heat. Known for their exceptional performance at low ambient temperatures, the LG VRF units ensure reliable heating even in our cold climate.
Our Approach
In this project, we showcased our adaptability and commitment to delivering effective solutions, emphasizing our operational agility and innovative approach. By choosing advanced VRF and regenerative core technologies.
Conclusion
The IPort project showcases our ability to deliver innovative and reliable HVAC solutions, even in challenging climates. Our commitment with every project is to ensure a successful outcome, ensuring the project’s design requirements and our customers’ budget and timelines are being met.
