Warehouse Heating Systems: Meeting HVAC Challenges

Warehouse

Warehouses and distribution centres are the lifeblood of today’s business. These large buildings, often with high ceilings and vast floor spaces, play a pivotal role in the supply chain. Yet, the challenges of maintaining ideal temperature and air quality within these facilities are often underestimated. This is why we are excited to become an exclusive partner with Cambridge Air Solutions, who recognize these unique challenges and offer innovative HVAC solutions to address the design issues warehouses pose head-on.

The Seasonal Struggles

One of the primary challenges faced by warehouse and distribution facility owners is the need to maintain a consistent temperature within the building year-round. In Canadian winters, it’s essential to provide warmth and fresh air for the well-being and productivity of employees.  Without a proper destratification solution within a warehouse, the space can have wildly varying and uncomfortable temperatures.  The high-velocity discharge of Cambridge units solves these issues without requiring additional fans, resolving a key design consideration on projects with high ceiling heights.

Cost management is also a top priority for warehouse owners. Heating, cooling, and ventilation expenses can account for a significant portion of total operating costs in traditional warehouses. Thus, it’s imperative to invest in efficient HVAC systems that optimize energy usage without sacrificing comfort or air quality.  Cambridge’s commercial/industrial space heater is 20% to 70% more energy efficient than all other types of indirect and direct gas-fired systems used to heat large commercial and industrial buildings.

Warehouse Heating Systems

Cambridge Air Solutions offers a range of heating solutions for warehouses and distribution centres. Their S-Series direct-fired space heaters, equipped with High-Temperature Heating and Ventilation (HTHV) technology, are designed to improve heating and ventilation simultaneously. These heaters not only save energy but also reduce carbon emissions and installation costs. They come in various BTU capacities, ranging from 250,000 to 3,200,000,

To meet ASHRAE 62.1 ventilation requirements during occupied hours, Cambridge’s S-Series use 100% outside air and can be configured during non-heating seasons, to provide ventilation and maintain indoor air quality throughout the year. Cambridge’s unique blow-thru design, with 160°F maximum temperature rise and discharge temperature, delivers more usable heat and thermal comfort with minimal temperature variation throughout the heated space.

Additional Cambridge Solutions

For warehouses that require compliance with indoor air quality standards or enhanced employee comfort, the M-Series line of Makeup Air Units (MAUs) offers excellent ventilation solutions.  These direct fired units are available up to 75,000 CFM and include Cambridge’s patented Low-Fire Start Technology and proprietary stainless steel burners.  These burners are specifically designed to provide year-round ventilation and tempered make-up air for a wide variety of demanding commercial and industrial retrofit.

As well Cambridge offers an extensive line of evaporative cooling solutions.  These semi custom units incorporate a combination of direct, and indirect evaporative cooling stages.  This can provide an economic solution to cooling in the right climate.
