CTC Warehouse

When the new CTC warehouse required a specialized hazardous material storage area known as the Boom Room, we delivered a comprehensive gas detection system to ensure the safety of occupants against flammable compounds.

Warehouse

The new CTC warehouse included a designated hazardous material storage area, referred to as the Boom Room, which necessitated accurate gas detection systems for various flammable compounds. Ensuring the safety of building occupants in this space required an in-depth understanding of several volatile compounds and their molecular properties. We collaborated with experts to implement a robust gas detection solution tailored to the unique needs of this environment.

Challenges

The main challenges involved in this project were:

  • Understanding the specific volatile compounds present and their molecular properties.
  • Ensuring accurate gas detection to provide safety for building occupants.
  • Integrating the gas detection system seamlessly into the existing ventilation strategy.

The Solution

To address these challenges, we partnered with Inviro Engineered Systems and Critical Environment Technologies (CET) to determine the most appropriate sensor types for a wide range of hydrocarbons. This collaboration resulted in a comprehensive design that provided optimal coverage for the hazardous material room.

Key components of the solution included:

  • Comprehensive Design: CET took the project plans and developed a layout that ensured complete coverage of the hazardous material room, including the most effective mounting heights for accurate sensing.
  • Integration with Ventilation: The gas detection system was seamlessly integrated into the ventilation strategy with the Heat/Vent air handling units (AHUs), enhancing safety while maintaining air quality.
  • Equipment Installed: The installation comprised 24 CET CXT explosion-proof gas transmitters equipped with infrared sensors designed for hydrocarbons. These transmitters were tied to three control panels to adequately cover the 43,000-square-foot area.

Installation was carried out by Brusan Heating & Air Conditioning, with startup and commissioning completed by our  factory-authorized technical support team.

Our Approach

The successful implementation of the gas detection system provided:

  • Enhanced Safety: The system ensured accurate detection of flammable compounds, safeguarding building occupants.
  • Effective Coverage: The strategically placed sensors provided comprehensive monitoring for the hazardous material room.
  • Seamless Integration: The integration with the existing ventilation system enhanced overall safety and air quality management in the warehouse.

Conclusion

Through collaboration and expertise, we effectively addressed the gas detection needs of the CTC warehouse’s hazardous material storage area. This project showcases the importance of specialized safety solutions in environments that handle volatile compounds, ensuring both compliance and the safety of occupants.
