Here at O’Dell HVAC Group, we recently completed a design-build project for a group of net zero warehouses in Cambridge, ON. This project required a highly efficient and innovative solution to provide heating via VRF technology while addressing the challenges of heating outdoor air in a cold climate.
Challenges
The Waterloo Regional District School Board (WRDSB) was in the process of constructing their new public school on Tartan Ave. and needed an ERV. While working with the engineer (MNE), we were able to supply Valent VXE units for their gym to provide heating, cooling, and ventilation.
The Solution
The school board wanted to keep their own BAS system to control these units, and Valent’s heat-cool only controls were exactly what they were looking for. Internal gas/refrigeration safeties are controlled by Valent, and all other sensors/controls were able to be provided by others.
Our Approach
The project included:
(3) Valent VXE Units for the gym to ensure optimal heating, cooling, and ventilation.
(4) Outdoor Aldes ERV’s to provide ventilation for the rest of the school and handle bathroom exhaust.
(1) SpringAir RevLow Kitchen Exhaust system for efficient kitchen ventilation.
Conclusion
By integrating advanced ERV systems and aligning with the school board’s existing BAS controls, we ensured that the new public school on Tartan Ave. would operate with top-notch performance and energy efficiency. Our carefully selected HVAC solutions addressed the specific needs of the facility, ensuring a comfortable and well-ventilated environment for students and staff.
