During the peak of COVID-19, the County of Wellington sought ways to enhance indoor air quality in their municipal buildings, including libraries and daycares. Our goal was to explore options to decrease the risk of airborne transmission for employees and building occupants.
Project Scope
The County of Wellington was looking at ways to improve indoor air quality in their municipal buildings. They wished to explore their options to decrease the risk of airborne transmission for the employees and building occupants.
The Solution
We explored several different solutions endorsed by ASHRAE to improve indoor air quality, including filtration, UV disinfection, and humidification. In consultation with the owner, we determined that humidification would deliver the most value in tackling airborne viruses. During site visits with contractor Cordes Enterprises Inc., we established Condair EL electric humidifiers as the best solution, given the calculated loads.
Our Approach
This project not only improved air quality in the older municipal buildings but also provided additional benefits beyond COVID protection. Libraries that previously had no humidity control are now benefitting from it, helping to preserve their contents, including books and furniture, from drying out.
Here’s what Josh Cordes, Owner of Cordes Enterprise Inc., had to say about working with us on this project:
